History of Grama Panchayat
Kodumon is a region with a rich historical legacy that dates back to the Sangam Age, one of the golden periods of South Indian history. The name "Kodumon" literally means "Land of Gold." The celebrated Sangam poet Kapilar, in his work Pathitrupathu, refers to the exquisite gold ornaments crafted in Kodumon, reflecting the region's ancient reputation for gold craftsmanship. It is also believed that gold was mined at Ponnaduthamkuzhi, near Idathitta.
